Meet Melissa (Mj Rain), Social Media Marketing Specialist - LinkedIn

Tell our readers a little bit about yourself. We want to get to know you better!
My name is Mj Rain. I was born and raised on Long Island, a suburb of New York City. In the summer of 2005, I moved to Central Iowa, where I currently live with my mom, husband, and cat. We all hope to move to the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania by the summer of 2017, so we can be closer to our home, New York.

I’m published by Rock & Roll Saved My Soul. I’m With Geek, The Cat’s Meow for Writers and Readers Magazine, and Broken Bars Publishing. I was also one of the many winners for NaNoWriMo 2014.

My Current WIP, is a duology titled Alpha & Omega, an original Greek myth. Fall Out will be about the destruction of Atlantis, while Echelon will be about the rise of the new kingdom in the aftermath.
I have been a true blue New York Rangers fan since I was 16, am a world class variety Potterhead, need a 12-step program for my coffee addiction, love chocolate in all of its many glorious forms, enjoy cooking and baking, and occasionally have fun chasing my cat up and down the stairs.

What’s it been like volunteering for Rock & Roll Saved My Soul? What is your favorite thing about it?
I love all the time I’ve spent and will continue to spend volunteering for RRSMS, and could not imagine my life without it, or the purpose it adds to my life. My favorite thing is being able to be a philanthropist and knowing that I am changing the world, along with the entire RRSMS team.

What made you want to join the Rock & Roll Saved My Soul team?
I started out as a contributing author and took advantage of every opportunity I had to promote every project I could on my blog and social media. After spending a few years on LinkedIn and learning how everything works, connecting with many amazing people and executives for the top publishers in the country, I wanted to use that knowledge to make the same connections with RRSMS. We just never know what possible doors it can open in the future. I love knowing that I’m helping create the future of RRSMS and the RRSMS Mission.

Who are some of your favorite bands?  Favorite album(s)/song(s)?
Favorite Singers: Enya, Billy Joel, David Bowie, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Eminem, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Sarah Brightman, Judy Collins, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty

If you’ve been to a concert, which was the most memorable? Feel free to share any stories with us!
I’ve seen Korn, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, The Righteous Brothers, and Peter Paul & Mary.
At the Korn concert, I learned just how much mosh pits should be outlawed. I saw a rather large dude covered in his own blood and the blood of others.

No, thank you. Do not come again. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. No.

If you could go on tour with one band for a month, which band would you choose and why?
U2. I just can’t go wrong. Their shows are ALWAYS Spectacular and their music. Don’t even get me started.

Are you a writer or musician? What genre? Where can we find out more about your writing or music?
I am a writer and poet. The quickest way to my social media is to Google my pen name, Mj Rain. You can find my official blog at:
