Life With Depression #16 - Sandy Ashley

Image
6-23-19 Last night my boyfriend and I had to talk because of some messages he had from a fake profile on FB. Saying crazy stupid shit about me sleeping with a friend at work. Like the shit that was said just sounds so crazy. We don't have solid evidence of who it was but I'm pretty sure of at least 2 people in on it. Thankfully though my boyfriend didn't believe it after we had talked about it. I did wonder how work was going to go though. 6-24-19 So after work I was pretty sure it was the person from last year who threatened me because he was on his phone at times my boyfriend got more messages from this person. Work because of this was very stressful. Even though nothing is going on with this guy at work other then we are friends, I just want the harassment to stop. Like get over it already. You still mad at me for saying you weren't doing your job. Get over your shit, seriously. 6-25-19 After work I went to talk to my bosses boss and

Notes of Dreams Writing Prompts

Image
1. Describe an imaginary landscape based on music For this exercise it’s good to pick longer pieces of music that unravel slowly. Imagine the music is describing a landscape: what do you see? Try to move from the bigger picture into the smallest details like the texture of the leaves on a tree. 2. Expand the narrative in a song Take a song with lyrics that contain narrative or introduce a character. Think about how the story is told and sung by the musician. Can you take this story and its character further once the song has finished? This is your chance to keep them living even after their 5 minutes of fame. 3. Free-write to the music This is a great exercise for those writers that have troubles starting with a blank page. Put some music on really loud, close your eyes for a couple of minutes and immerse yourself in the sound. You could focus on your feelings, invent a story to go with the song or try to describe the tones. There are no right or wrong answers – t

Invisible Illness Spotlight: Suicide

Image
There is no single cause to suicide. It most often occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities of someone suffering from a mental health condition. Risk Factors and Warning Signs:  What leads to suicide? There’s no single cause for suicide. Suicide most often occurs when stressors and health issues converge to create an experience of hopelessness and despair. Depression is the most common condition associated with suicide, and it is often undiagnosed or untreated. Conditions like depression, anxiety and substance problems, especially when unaddressed, increase risk for suicide. Yet it’s important to note that most people who actively manage their mental health conditions go on to engage in life. Suicide Warning Signs: Something to look out for when concerned that a person may be suicidal is a change in behavior or the presence of entirely new behaviors. This is of sharpest concern if the new or changed behavior is related to a painful event, loss, or

The Sounds of Advice #116: Views

Are any of our views truly our own or do we simply inherit them from the environments and societies we live our lives in? Kate: I'd like to think I have my own views, but I think sometimes our environment plays a part in it. We can always change and do better than what is around us though. QOTD #55: Favorite Song Lyrics

Gina:   oh, there's so many. Let's go with Ludo, "Anything Can be a weapon if you're holding it right." Kate:   I have a few. “And I know you think those pretty eyes are nothing much to see, but beauty’s running wild on your face.” “And I still believe in the need for guitars and drums and desperate poetry.” “She's got lions in her heart A fire in her soul he's a got a beast In his belly that's so hard to control Cause they've taken too much hits, taking blow by blow Now light a match, stand back, watch them explode” Sandy:   That is tough between "My Life and Yours" and "I'll Be Here" both by Just Surrender Aisling:  All the Right Moves by One Republic  Twinkle:   7 Years by Lukas Graham Sid:   "If boys don't cry, not a man am I," - Boys Will be Boys by Benny Heather:   I absolutely love Satellite by Nickelback. 6-18-19:   I'm more irritated than depressed, but its a little of both. My boyfriend thinks that I went on a date with a guy from work and I didn't. I just told him my 2 cents of it cause I didn't need more drama at work than I already have to deal with. So it just kinda annoying. Like if I hid the fact all together yeah that would be an issue, but I said who and that we are just friends but he thinks my friend as some other motive. Whatever. 6-21-19: Other than the issues with boyfriend earlier in the week. My week wasn't too bad. Got to go home early (only a few hours at most) from work so extra sleep. Although when I have all my kids, I don't feel I get more sleep. Lol hopefully next week is better though. I hate drama.

Summer Solstice: 8 Things to Know

Image
1) Why do we have a summer solstice, anyway? Okay, most people know this one. Earth orbits around the sun on a tilted axis. (Probably because our planet collided with some other massive object billions of years ago, back when it was still being formed.) So between March and September, Earth’s Northern Hemisphere gets more exposure to direct sunlight over the course of a day. The rest of the year, the Southern Hemisphere gets more. It’s why we have seasons. In the Northern Hemisphere, “peak” sunlight usually occurs on June 20, 21, or 22 of any given year. That’s the summer solstice. By contrast, the Southern Hemisphere reaches peak sunlight on December 21, 22, or 23 and the Northern hits peak darkness — that’s our winter solstice. 2) How many hours of sunlight will I get on the 21st? That depends on where you live. The farther north you are, the more sunlight you’ll see during the solstice. Alaska-based climatologist Brian Brettschneider created this terrific gui

6/19/19: So I haven't been feeling the best lately. I'm picking up extra hours to help out as my boyfriend can't work much right now. Hes been really sick for months. It's been putting extra strain on my body and I've been getting so exhausted that it hard to function and some days the pain is terrible and others its tolerable, but I fight through it. Though all I feel like I do is work and then work at home and take care of my son. It's hard but it's all for my family. I just hate feeling like I don't get as much time with my son as I'd like.  My diet has been going well, lost 2.5lbs and I'm feeling better shedding weight. I'm trying to up my exercise routine and walk as much as I can.

6-14-19: This week overall wasn't bad. It more or less just really long. We made at least a good 300+ parts extra. Which is a lot. I do get tired of seeing that weird looking face everyday though. I guess one day he was staring down my boyfriend in which I replied I'm not surprised. Other than that things have been fairly well. Few small up and downs but nothing serious.

The History of Flag Day

Image
The Fourth of July was traditionally celebrated as America's birthday, but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885. BJ Cigrand, a schoolteacher, arranged for the pupils in the Fredonia, Wisconsin Public School, District 6, to observe June 14 (the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of The Stars and Stripes) as 'Flag Birthday'. In numerous magazines and newspaper articles and public addresses over the following years, Cigrand continued to enthusiastically advocate the observance of June 14 as 'Flag Birthday', or 'Flag Day'. On June 14, 1889, George Balch, a kindergarten teacher in New York City, planned appropriate ceremonies for the children of his school, and his idea of observing Flag Day was later adopted by the State Board of Education of New York. On June 14, 1891, the Betsy Ross House in Philadelphia held a Flag Day celebration, and on June 14 of the following year, the

Journal Entry #4 - Headaches - Gina Dierolf

Image
6/10/2019 Journal Entry #4: ‘Headaches’  By now I have touched on a couple of the silent or invisible ailments that I live with on a daily basis. There are a few that I have not touched upon and many that I won’t since they are pretty well control. Let’s talk about headaches. I want to say that I have first started struggling with them about a year ago where I would get this aching in my head, but only on the left side and fairly close to my temple then it would sometimes extended up into my head or around toward the back of my neck. It would come at random intervals and would sometimes keep me up at night, not because they were or are that painful but because I was worried about why they were there. When I tell people about my headaches I like to describe it as a head pain since to me they are different, not as intense as a headache. But either way, whatever they are called they are this annoying and constant dull throb that always seems to come and go. I still exper

6-3-2019: So work was super fucking shitty. Small back story. I was a trainer on a different shift. The graveyard trainer on that line was mad I was doing my job because he wasn't. Week of Thanksgiving a few weeks into being on graveyard shift. He came around to the line I was on and said if I didn't stop ratting him out he would tell my boyfriend I was sleeping with a guy at work. Which I'm not because I have no reason to. For weeks I didn't want to go to work because I had no idea what else would happen. That's the back story. So I went into work knowing that our lines were finally moved to where they would be. I was in line getting gloves saw my line, my sister line (left hand air bag) and then that line right next to that. I seriously was so pissed and right back into same I didn't want to be at work anymore because of how it made me feel. Thankfully, he was on vacation so I didn't have to see his face yet. So on top of that we had issues on my lin

Happy Pride Month

Image
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan. The Stonewall riots were a tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the United States. In the United States the last Sunday in June was initially celebrated as “Gay Pride Day,” but the actual day was flexible. In major cities across the nation the “day” soon grew to encompass a month-long series of events. Today, celebrations include pride parades, picnics, parties, workshops, symposia and concerts, and LGBTQ Pride Month events attract millions of participants around the world. Memorials are held during this month for those members of the community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/AIDS. The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. In 1994, a coalition of edu

6/5/19: Things have been hard lately, only one really bad pain flare up for a couple days the past two weeks. That was when it was storming. It seems to cause flare ups. But I've been having issues with insomnia now.  I wish I could sleep.  My weight loss journey is coming along nicely. Making more progress and have lost a couple more pounds. I seem to have a little bit more energy these days. I am also able to take the stairs more often, which make me feel pretty accomplished. I'm just keeping on going til I reach my goal.

5-31-19:  Over this week wasn't bad. I didn't feel super great a couple times through the week, but didn't feel it was serious enough to talk about. Just felt sad not for any real reason. I just tried to distract myself to get past it. Oddly enough for work only being a 4 day week it sure seemed way longer. Maybe I'm just more stressed then I think I am. I did start taking my meds to help prevent my migraines. Like only a few days ago so don't know how well it works yet. Hopefully it does though. I'm tired of them every day when I wake up. I'm sure there is a lot of reasons for them, but just tired of them.

National Cancer Survivors Day

Image
The National Cancer Survivors Day is a secular holiday celebrated on the first Sunday in June primarily in the United States of America. The day is meant to “demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality”. Though it is mainly celebrated in the United States, the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation is attempting to grow its popularity in other countries, with some success. History: The National Cancer Survivors Day was first announced by Merril Hastings at the second national conference meeting of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 20, 1987. Later, Hastings filed the name as an International Class 042 Service, as well as registering with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the name of Pulse Publications. The first National Cancer Survivors Day was held on June 5, 1988. Twenty-two other National Cancer Survivors Days have taken place since. All info from;  https://en.wikipedia.org/wik
