6/19/19: So I haven't been feeling the best lately. I'm picking up extra hours to help out as my boyfriend can't work much right now. Hes been really sick for months. It's been putting extra strain on my body and I've been getting so exhausted that it hard to function and some days the pain is terrible and others its tolerable, but I fight through it. Though all I feel like I do is work and then work at home and take care of my son. It's hard but it's all for my family. I just hate feeling like I don't get as much time with my son as I'd like.  My diet has been going well, lost 2.5lbs and I'm feeling better shedding weight. I'm trying to up my exercise routine and walk as much as I can.

6/5/19: Things have been hard lately, only one really bad pain flare up for a couple days the past two weeks. That was when it was storming. It seems to cause flare ups. But I've been having issues with insomnia now.  I wish I could sleep.  My weight loss journey is coming along nicely. Making more progress and have lost a couple more pounds. I seem to have a little bit more energy these days. I am also able to take the stairs more often, which make me feel pretty accomplished. I'm just keeping on going til I reach my goal.

5/22/19:  My fibro has been manageable lately. Only a couple really bad day, when work was terribly difficult. Took a bubble bath and that seemed to help a little. Need to make more time to take them more often. They really help to relax. I recently started a weight loss journey. I'm going it alone. Coming up with my own exercise plan. I've already lost 10lbs from just cutting out soda. Still have 50lbs to go. So I'm hoping losing more weight will help me feel better and help improve my symptoms. I will report progress on both weight loss and on any improvements in how I feel because of it.

5/5/19:   So lately my fibro hasn't been too bad. At least pain wise. I've been so tried the last few days, hard to keep my eyes open past 9pm and still tired when I wake up in the morning. I feel as though the fatigue and the not ever getting refreshing sleep is the hardest symptom to deal with and manage. I wake up feeling like I haven't slept at all. I wish to feel normal again. I'm going to start exploring options to see if I can find something to help the fatigue improve some. Hopefully I will find success.

So the flare up finally started to to ease up only for it to slam back into me again. The fluctuation in temperature and weather is wreaking havoc on my body. It's not as bad as I mentioned previously. It's still there though. The pain hasn't been as bad but the fatigue and depression is bad, but my boyfriend has been very sick for almost two months and it weighing on me, the worry and stress for it. Stress definitely affects my fibro. I have found that the medications prescribed do not help me with my symptoms. The only thing I've found the helps at all is using CBD. I've used gummies and creams, but found that vaping CBD juice is the most cost effective option. I've been using it quite a bit lately.

My name is Jen and this is my first journal entry. I'm a single mom, I have a 6 year old son. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia almost 5 years ago. And every day is a struggle, some worse than others. There are so many symptoms that go along with it, too many to list. It affects every aspect of my life, my ability as a mom, my relationship, my family, my friendships and my job. I do the best I can manage, though a lot of the time I feel its not good enough, especially for some people.  The past few weeks have been really difficult for me, with the weather changing from winter to spring, my fibromyalgia has flared up with a vengeance. I've been in a lot of pain, feels like my skin is crawling and every part of my body aches, my anxiety and depression have been almost unbearable at times. Some days I just keep crying, I'll stop for awhile and the tears will just come again. I feel like I'm failing as a mother and I've been having a lot of issues at my job an...

Invisible Illness: Fibromyalgia

Image
Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals. Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event. Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression. While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help. Symptoms: Widespread pain. The pain associated with fibromyalgia often is described as a constant dull ache that has lasted for at least three...
