Meet Gina Dierolf, Social Media Marketing Specialist - Tumblr
Tell our readers a
little bit about yourself. We want to get to know you better!
My name is Gina, I live with my dog Zachariah, hamster
Abner, ball python Saosin, dwarf hamster Jaime, rat Stuart, my mom, sister, and
long time friend. I live in what I would consider it fairly small city,
considering that you can walk across it in one day if you are that ambitious.
Music and giving back are a huge part of who I am, I have seen over 60 bands in
my meager 25 years of living and I don’t plan on letting that number slow down.
I love helping others which is why I along with volunteering to help with RRSMS
I am a crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line and I work with the youth in my
city to help them become all they can be. I am also an avid reader and I love
to create in any way that I can find fit, painting, coloring, anything really!
What’s it been like
volunteering for Rock & Roll Saved My Soul? What is your favorite thing
about it?
It has been a blast volunteering for Rock and Roll Saved my
soul, I love how it is one whole community of individuals who are working
together for one unified goal while doing what they love which is music and
writing! My favorite thing about RRSMS is that everyone is accepted and that
you don’t have to be an author in the formal sense to contribute and have a
voice plus we are helping others and charities while doing so!
What made you want to
join the Rock & Roll Saved My Soul team?
What made me begin volunteering for RRSMS is that I wanted
to help Kate out with making her reams a reality and she has always been there
for me. Plus, I love what she is creating with how everyone is able to
contribute and be a part of something so much bigger and the proceeds go to
help others.
Who are some of your
favorite bands? Favorite
album(s)/song(s)?
I have so many bands that I love listening to and it ranges
from every type of genre that you could think of. Favorites are Chiodos and I
think “Bone Palace Ballet” and “Devil” may be my favorite albums, Marianas
Trench and the album “Ever After” or “Astoria”, I also enjoy Saosin, Of Mice
and Men, Megosh and so many more.
Picking favorites is not something I enjoy doing, I have too many!
If you’ve been to a
concert, which was the most memorable? Feel free to share any stories with us!
I have been to two concerts that resonate with me and have
left giant impressions within me. The first on is when I went to see Chiodos in
New York City at Irving Plaza. It was after they had released “Devil” and I
knew it was probably one of my last chances to see my favorite band all playing
together, so I took the chance and made the 3 hour trip with two of my closest
friends. My friend and I were vip and I was able to meet my hero and it was
just an amazing experience that I will never forget.
The other
concert that totally astounded me was Marianas Trench. 3 friends and I took a
bus trip to New York City, again to see them play about a year ago. It was the
greatest time that I have ever had at a show. The band is so energetic and
hilarious and you can just tell that they love doing it. Josh Ramsay, the lead
singer wore someones bra that they had thrown on stage and just made it one
hilarious night of fun and chaos.
If you could go on
tour with one band for a month, which band would you choose and why?
There are so many musicians/bands that I would love to go on
tour with and that I hold dear to my heart, however, I think that one band that
I would love to tour with for a month would be Marianas Trench. Why, they make
amazing music and they seem to have very good personalities, plus their doing
an 80’s themed tour right now in Canada, what could be a better definition of
awesome?
Are you a writer or
musician? What genre? Where can we find out more about your writing or music?
I wouldn’t consider myself a writer or a musician, however,
I have had some stories featured in two RRSMS anthologies and I have been
published in a poetry book when I was about 13 or 14 from Poetry.com.
