This story is more than just giving my favorite singer a book. This was a very special book. This story begins a long time ago. I was at work and a song came on the radio. The song was “Give Me Something” by Scars on 45. I fell in love instantly. The year was 2011. That was the first time I saw them live, too. It changed my life. I just didn’t know how it would. Only time would tell on that.  Over the course of the years I saw them a few more times. I got to know them, not just as musicians, but as people. They became friends. I’ve seen a lot of bands over the years, more than I can even begin to count or list. Some of them became friends like that for a time, but this time something was different. As most of you know, a lot of the RRSMS anthologies revolve around music. And what better way to creatively showcase the anthologies is by putting together playlists of bands and songs featured in our anthologies. That's the way it started anyway. From there we started working on playlists for the other anthologies, using the book's theme as the basis for the playlist.  Below you will find links to playlists for most of our current anthologies, as well as our upcoming anthology, Rise Above. Will Anderson and Johnny Stubblefield, friends from childhood, formed the band Sparky's Flaw while attending Charlottesville High School; Kit French and Alex Hargrave, long-time friends and classmates of the two, soon joined. While in college, the band signed a record deal with Mercury Records in August 2007. In the same month, Nate McFarland, a classmate and friend of Anderson's at the University of Virginia, joined the band. McFarland and Anderson were both part of the all-male a cappella group, the Virginia Gentlemen, while at college. After graduating from college in May 2008, the band began touring full-time. Later that year, they changed their name to Parachute. Parachute's debut album, Losing Sleep, became available in stores and online on May 19, 2009. This song is about Christa McAuliffe, the social studies teacher who died in the Challenger space shuttle disaster when the rocket exploded less than two minutes after blasting off from Cape Canaveral. "The Challenger space shuttle disaster of 1986 is something I have vague memories of happening," Frank Turner recalled to NME. "Christa McAuliffe was a high school teacher who was put on board to engage children with the programme and then preceded to die on national television." "The fact that I found out that really threw me in the loop was that she didn't die when the rocket exploded, she died when the capsule hit the water, two minutes and 45 seconds later."  Turner appears to have bought into the rumor that McAuliffe survived the explosion and transmitted the words "I'm alive!" as the shuttle fell to earth. Jason Bradford Reeves (born July 1, 1984) is an American singer-songwriter and musician. He grew up in Iowa City, Iowa before locating to California in 2005, where he began a long-standing working relationship with producer Mikal Blue and singer Colbie Caillat. He co-wrote many songs with Caillat, most notably the songs "Bubbly", "Realize" and "I Never Told You". "Bubbly" has been Reeves most successful work to date, hitting #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts, #5 on the Hot 100 and being certified Platinum (along with "Realize") by the RIAA.
