The Sounds of Advice #6

How to deal with bullying:

Sandy: I don't put up with it. I tell the person doing it to knock it off. However that isn't always easy or able to do without getting it more. As hard as it is to do, ignore it and then go surround yourself with people that love you just how you are.

Kate: It's never easy when you're faced with a bully. And we've no doubt all faced one at some point in time, even as adults we run into bullies, sadly. If you fear for your safety, tell someone you trust. Talking about it doesn't make it go away, but it helps a lot. You won't feel so alone. Just remember that you haven't done anything wrong and the bullies words and actions are a reflection of them and not you. Sometimes standing up for yourself helps. If you show your bully that you're not going to take their crap, they may back down. All of us here at RRSMS are here to help. All you have to do is reach out to us.

Aisling: If you're ever faced with a bully remember this. Their opinion of you, it doesn't matter. If you can, ignore them. If that's not possible, tell someone, seek help. Don't feed into their bullying. They're always looking for a reaction. If you don't react they won't get what they want and most likely move on.
