How do you deal with people who criticized your weight: Aisling:   It's hard not to take people's criticism to heart but try not to. Whether you've just had a baby, have weight issues due to health reasons, are in the process of trying to lose weight or anything else, just remember you are beautiful just as you are & for who you are as a person.  Some people feel the need to make comments about other people's weight because they themselves are bothered by their own weight. Is it right? No. So just remember what a person is like on the inside is more important than what they may or may not look like on the outside. Sandy:  Even though I am not heavy set, people give me a hard time. Saying things like "You need some meat on those bones" or " You need to eat more". I certainly do eat and anyone who knows me, they know how much I eat. I haven't always been happy with how I look. I finally got to the point when people would s...

Question of the Day #16

Image
Gina:  "3 AM" by Chiodos; I had to really think about this question Kate:  Pretty much any video the band Ludo ever did. Goodwill Hunting By Myself is probably my favorite one they've done. Sandy:  I have always liked "It's Gonna Be Me" by N Sync. I have all the dolls and would have been awesome if they had turned into the real one when they were bought lol Melissa:  Only If by Enya Renee:  California Tupac / Dr. Dre Aisling:  All the right moves by One Republic Twinkle:  Somebody That I Used To Know By Gotye Sid:  Hmm watch mostly fan made music videos, so I don't know that many but maybe a tie between Paramore's Brick by Boring Brick and Out of the Woods by Taylor Swift, Arminta:  Lately I've been digging Macklemore-Downtown Heather:  Into The Woods by Taylor Swift. Lori:  Think of You feature Chris Young and Cassadee Pope Radeyah:  Taylor Swift's Blank Space music video. ...

Question of the Day #15

Gina:  Marianas Trench or Chiodos, I love both of them! Kate:  Scars on 45, they're so underrated Sandy:   Just Surrender!! They might not be listed in these questions, but I was hoping they could have fit in somewhere. Haha Melissa:   Nirvana. Especially if they suffer from mental illness. Kurt Cobain just really understood it. May he RIP. Renee:  I love so much music it is difficult to say one so I am just going to say it is important to have a wide variety of songs and genres Aisling:  The Doors lol Twinkle:  Music as a whole should be admired and loved by all, no matter who sings it or what genre it is! Sid:  Evans Blue or Ludo. Arminta:  Otep Heather:  I have no idea. Lori:   Switchfoot Radeyah:  I think everyone should love Linkin Park as much as I do and play their music everywhere. Jen: Ghost Colleen: Nickelback

How to deal with a bad break-up: Sandy:  Take the time you need to heal and then when you are ready you can date again. A lot of the times even if we loved the person we later realize that we are better off without them. Aisling:  Take time to wallow. Whether by yourself or with a friend. Take the time to cry, mindlessly watch TV, eat junk food. Taking time for yourself is the most important thing. This is a time you can reevaluate what you really want and focus on yourself. Kate: Allow yourself time to grieve. It's never an easy thing when you break-up with someone, especially if you still love them. Surround yourself with people who care about you. You don't have to go through it alone. It may be easier to shy away, but being with your friends will help, even if it just takes your mind off things temporarily. And know that things will get easier as time goes on. You will be okay and if you're not okay, reach out to someone, but never let anyone ever in...

Cover Reveal: I Am Loved

Image
Rock & Roll Saved My Soul is proud to reveal the cover of their next anthology, I Am Loved!  26% of LGBT youth say their biggest problems are not feeling accepted by their family, trouble at school/bullying, and a fear to be out/open.  Everyone should be accepted for who they are, but sadly that isn't the case, especially within the LGBT community. It is hard to be who you are in this world.  The crew at Rock & Roll Saved My Soul are taking a stand. We want to end the hate and the bullying.  I Am Loved is a collection of stories and poetry that talk about love and acceptance within the LGBT community. ALL proceeds will be donated to  The Trevor Project Join us for the release party on September 2nd - 4th on Facebook !

Question of the Day #14

Gina:   Generally every song that I listen to makes me think, it just depends on what mood I'm in. Kate:  Almost every song by Switchfoot Sandy:  I can't think of the name of the song. It's by Nickelback though. I am singing it in my head right now. Lol Melissa:   Anything by Enya. Nicky and Roma Ryan are brilliant lyricists. How to deal with bullying: Sandy:  I don't put up with it. I tell the person doing it to knock it off. However that isn't always easy or able to do without getting it more. As hard as it is to do, ignore it and then go surround yourself with people that love you just how you are. Kate: It's never easy when you're faced with a bully. And we've no doubt all faced one at some point in time, even as adults we run into bullies, sadly. If you fear for your safety, tell someone you trust. Talking about it doesn't make it go away, but it helps a lot. You won't feel so alone. Just remember that you haven't done anything wrong and the bullies words and actions are a reflection of them and not you. Sometimes standing up for yourself helps. If you show your bully that you're not going to take their crap, they may back down. All of us here at RRSMS are here to help. All you have to do is reach out to us. Aisling:  If you're ever faced with a...

Question of the Day #13

Image
Kate:  Linkin Park Sandy:  Not a huge fan of Fall Out Boy. Only like two songs by them otherwise I do t listen to them. Melissa:  Anything that sounds like a wet cat with its tail caught in a door while being electrocuted. I don't do death metal or screamo. For me, it's migraine inducing noise. Renee:  Adele Aisling:  One Direction Twinkle:  Honey Singh Sid:  I don't think I've ever hated an entire band music wise before, but I guess as people, vocalists I hate are Chris Brown and Emnimem. Arminta:  I don't think there's a band I hate. Not saying I like everything but I just tend to not think about or listen to what I don't like.  Heather:   I don't have one.  Lori:  Nickelback Radeyah:  I don't think I have a most hated band. I appreciate each band's differences.  Jen: Justin Bieber  Colleen: Anything country

Call to Arms: Project Reunited

Co-founder and fellow author, Sandy Ashley needs your help.  About a year and a half ago Sandy was in a life altering car accident. She could have lost the ability to walk. She didn't though, but in the process, she lost custody of her daughter, who was too young to even begin to understand what was happening. Custody was give to her dad. Since then, Sandy has recovered from the injuries sustained from the car accident, but s he has not gotten custody of her daughter back. Sandy is one of the most caring, loving people I know, who would do anything for her kids. She wants to get custody of Kay back, but doesn't have the means to do so. This is where RRSMS comes in. We'd like to launch our first auction/fundraiser to try to help her get her daughter out of a bad environment and back with Sandy, where she belongs. We're looking for donations and just general ideas to help set this up. Anything at all is appreciated. If you would like to donate something or have any ide...

Sounds of Advice #5

How to get your creative juices flowing Sandy:  Find what helps you relax. I find to help with being creative for my writing I put on some N Sync and I'm good to go. Other things just have to strike me the right way. It's like when you meet your best friend for the first time. You won't know you will be best friends, however you have that moment when you click and it grows from that. Kate: Most of my creativity is sparked from sleep deprivation, though I don't recommend doing that, because it's not fun at all. In all honesty though, I can find creativity in almost anything, you just have to look at it from the right angle. No, it doesn't always happen instantly, but write down your little ideas when you have them, and you never know what they might grow into. A lot of my inspiration comes from music, because it is my lifeline. Don't be afraid to take a risk. It might be what someone needs. That's how I've always felt about my writing. I...
